Viral Marketing takes many forms, but at its core can be described as efforts over the internet to spread information and messaging, collect supporter information, and instigate supporters to take action. Examples of effective viral marketing techniques are:
- Using one of the Take Action tools - Tell-A-Friend - to give your supporters the tool to easily reach out to their circle of friends and family;
- Allow site visitors to easily email a link from your website to someone they think will be interested;
- Create E-cards that are fun and interesting that can be sent out to supporters and forwarded on;
- Sending a five second preview of new Flash animation in html emails to supporters and asking them to send it to friends;
- Creating on-line media packages that can be sent to bloggers and online media outlets (which would include an icon, banners, press briefing tailored to them, a sneak preview of upcoming Flash animations);
- An html email that can be forwarded far and wide announcing an event and how to sign up for free tickets.
