But there are some basic principles that will help you navigate your way to a better website.

  1. Nobody wants to wait for a website to load. Keep your website streamlined and reduce the file size of graphics.
  2. How often do you read a newspaper from last year? It is the same for a website – regular updates are important if you want people to visit it. Think about upgrading your website to use a CMS – you can keep your site updated.
  3. Make your website easy to find.
    • Choose a domain name that is easy to remember and that people associate with you and your website.
    • When you talk to people or advertise include your domain name.
    • Register your website with popular search engines.
  4. Use standard web colours and test your website with different internet browsers - many people will view your website with different browser (IE,Firefox, Opera, etc). There is a move by some on the internet to use international web standards that are often referred to as W3C to try and make websites
